CAIRO， May 8 (Xinhua) -- Gunmen shot dead eight Egyptian policemen in Helwan district south of the Capital Cairo in the early morning， the interior ministry said Sunday.


Four assailants in a pickup truck intercepted the policemen， who were in a minivan patrolling the area， and showered them with automatic rifle fire， the ministry said.
